Helsinki City Run half marathon joins Association of International Marathons and Distance Races
AIMS is a member-based organization of more than 400 of the world’s leading distance races, from over 100 countries and territories
According to the organizers, Helsinki City Run half marathon is the biggest running event in Finland having over 10 000 participants from 63 countries. On the 13th of May 2017 55% of the participants were men, 45% – women.
Helsinki City Run received the AIMS Membership on May 12th 2017. It means that the new route of the event has been formally measured by an IAAF-approved person and the event meets international standards. Previous Finnish members of the organization were Helsinki City Marathon, Paavo Nurmi Marathon and Helsinki Half Marathon.
Helsinki City Run is an excellent way to see Helsinki and its most beautiful sides, the organizes insist. The route combines city, sea-view, parks and goes along the Helsinki Central Park. There were 10 start corrals to join the runners running about at the same pace.
Helsinki City Run 2017 was won by Aki Nummela, who managed to cover the distance of 21.0975 km within 1 hour 9 minutes 25 seconds.
The next Helsinki City Run half marathon will start on the 19th of may 2018.
